FTL STRIKE WARS (FTL SW) is a unique and exciting bowling league that bowls once a month throughout the Central Florida area from August to May. Cost per month is $35 per bowler. FTL Strike Wars League consist of 12 Franchises (24 teams). The franchises are comprised of two (5) person teams, one handicap team, and one scratch team. The league bowls on the third Sunday of each month. Florida Travel League does not allow pre or post bowling. The league offers several ways for handicap and scratch bowlers to win big through brackets and sidepots. So grab your gear and bring your game!
1. This league known as FTL Strike Wars (FTL SW). This league is managed by Wonya Mitchell. FTL Strike Wars League will consist of 12 franchises. Team Franchises are comprised of (2) five member teams, (1) scratch team and (1) handicap team. The franchise may add (4) permanent sub bowlers to their franchise roster for a total of 14 bowlers. Once a roster sub has bowled with a franchise, they will not be allowed to switch to another franchise during the season.
2. The Sponsor Fee per franchise is $500, which is $250 per team submitted.
3. There will be 10 bowling sessions, beginning on August 17, 2025, and ending on May 17, 2026. FTL Strike Wars league will bowl on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 10:00 AM except session November. November’ session will be held on the second Sunday of the month at 10:00 AM. This league will be sanctioned through USBC. All USBC sanction cards must be paid on the first league meeting date on August 3, 2025, if not previously paid through another league.
4. FTL Strike Wars League is a GUARANTEED LINEAGE LEAGUE. The league bowling fees are $35 per month per bowler. The bowler will be responsible for paying league fees each month. In the event of a bowler’s absence the team is responsible for paying the absentee bowlers league fees. FTL STRIKE WARS LEAGUE WILL NOT ALLOW FOR ARREARS. Team Franchises will be responsible for paying $35 for any vacancy spot(s) on their roster until filled.
5. Checks will be accepted as payment for league fees. Checks are to be made payable to Florida Travel League or FTL. If for any reason a check is returned to the league a $38 NSF fee plus the amount of the check must be paid before the member will be eligible to bowl. The member will not be allowed to write checks for the remainder of the season unless bank error can be proven.
6. The last 2 months of bowling fees must be paid on or before January 4, 2026, or the individual will not be eligible to bowl.
7. In accordance with USBC rule number 121a, a member withdrawing from the league must give two weeks’ notice along with cause for resigning from the league. It will be to the team’s discretion to divide prize fund monies between the resigning bowler and the replacement bowler. If a bowler does not give notice and leaves the league, then in accordance with USBC rule 121a (2) all prize fund monies for that individual(s) will be forfeited. The team will be responsible for any outstanding fess that are due for vacancies.
8. There is no team cap for the scratch franchise team. There is a 950 team cap for handicap franchise teams The individual handicap will be 90% of 220. Entering averages for FTL Strikes Wars will be derived as follows: (1) Bowlers highest USBC book average from 2024-2025 as stated on Bowl.com to include summer averages or (2) Bowlers highest USBC book average from 2023-2024 will be used as entering average. If no average is available for past two years then the bowler will establish their average after bowling the first 3 games. Entering averages will be used for the first 3 games (1 session). A vacancy score of 150 shall be used for any vacancy. FTL will enforce the 10-pin drop rule for the season.
9. For American 10-pin bowling competition, (2) members of the team’s permanent roster shall constitute a legal line up. A team must have a legal line up at the start of league play otherwise game(s) are forfeited until a legal line up has been established.
10. FTL will have (1) Position Round. Position round will be on May 3, 2026
.
11. A tardy bowler may enter the game provided the third (3rd) frame has not been COMPLETED by both teams. The bowler will be allowed to make up the missed frames.
12. Points will be derived as follows for Handicap and Scratch Teams: (3) 10-pin games (7 points total): (2) point per game (1) point team series.(2) Baker games (3 points total): (1) point per game (1) point baker series totalBaker format, the leadoff bowler rolls the first and sixth frames, the second bowler rolls the second and seventh frames, the third bowler rolls the third and eighth frames, the fourth bowler rolls the fourth and ninth frames, and the fifth bowler rolls the fifth and 10th frames, including any extra deliveries in the 10th frame. Note: Baker games may occur at any point in the event format. For award purposes, however, they should not interrupt any three-game series.
13.Substitutions – For baker matches no substitutions are allowed for the handicap teams. For baker scratch teams once a bowler is substituted, the bowler cannot return to bowl for the remainder of the game. No pre or post bowls will be permitted.
14. In the event you have an absent bowler and none of your permanent subs are available to fill in for the absent bowler then the team must use your absent bowler’s average minus ten pins in computing scores.
15. . In the event of a tie (win/loss) for FIRST PLACE ONLY a 10 frame roll off will commence immediately after league play to decide the overall winner. All other will/loss ties will be determined by handicap pin count. All places other will/loss ties will be determined by handicap pin count for handicap and scratch pin count for scratch.
16. If any of the bylaws conflict with USBC rules, then USBC rule will be applied.
